HEALTHY LIVING

In this post we would be taking a look at traditional and orthodox medicine as means of maintaining our health. But before I go on, I would like us to look into the meaning of the word health although we are familiar with it. Health is all about 'well being.' Its not just about physical fitness. It goes beyond that to include emotional, psychological, social well being and more. This is just my own idea of it anyway.
So, today I would like to talk about the issue of choosing between herbal and orthodox medicine. Fortunately, I am neither a medical nor a traditional doctor. And so I will try as much as I can to be objective about this issue. This issue has been the bone of contention among many people and many others end up not being able to decide which way to follow. This has led to many people combining both forms of treatment inappropriately and thereby leading themselves to more complicated health problems. Actually the question is which  of them is better for you?
Like I said earlier, I would be objective on this issue. This will help us to make a good choice so that we don't just get ourselves into a more complicated health problems in the course of trying to cure ourselves of our present illnesses. The truth is that traditional medicine has its own 'pros' and 'cons' just as orthordox medicine, its a matter of choice but this is a quick advice for us. Whichever one  you prefer to take, consult a professional in that field and do not combine both without proper consultations.
Going further, I would like to highlight some of the advantages of orthodox medicine as well as those of herbal/traditional medicine.I would start with orthodox medicine which is very common and more widely accepted. The advantages of orthodox medicine are:
1. It is prepared in a more hygenic way.
2. A lot of tests are carried out to make sure they are good for our health.
3. It is prepared by proffessionals who must have undergone series of educational training and have been found both theoretically and practically equal to the task.
4. It lasts longer than herbal medicine.
Disadvantages include:
1. The chemicals used to preserve them most of times do have adverse side effects.
2. It is costly.
3. The healing sometimes does not last long because it does not heal from the root.
Advantages of herbal medicine:
1. It heals from the root.
2. It is cheap to use.
3. It is prepared from natural materials and so, does not have adverse side effect.
4. It is easy to prepare and anybody can be taught how to prepare and use it without formal educational qualifications.
Disadvantages:
1. Amateurs easily get confused about herbs and use the wrong ones which can be catastrophic.
2. It is sometimes prepared in an unhygenic manner.
3. It expires within few days.
Having seen the 'pros' and 'cons' of each of the two forms of treatments, you may now choose any that appeals to you but remember make sure you get correct directives from the appropriate people. I hope this helps.

Please note that this is just an observation amongst people. If you have anything to add to this post to make it better, you are free to do so through comments. It will be highly appreciated.
Thanks and enjoy!!!
